We encourage you to visit the Adopt for Life Center for Animals on PetFinder or Facebook to see available pets, then come on over and see who’s new!
Current Adoption Fees:
The price of the animals’ adoption reflects the cost of required spay/neuter surgery, shots, deworming and overall care while in the shelter. The Adopt for Life Center for Animals (AFLCFA) operates on a tight budget, and the cost of our animals is much less that you’ll find at a pet store or breeder, plus you have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve rescued a homeless pet, and won’t add to pet overpopulation.

Pet Adoption Form:
Click here to get a jump start on your adoption process: Pet Matching.pdf You’ll notice this form is very detailed. The reason for that is that nobody wants you to have to return a pet that’s a bad fit or nixed by your landlord. We will be calling your landlord if you rent, to confirm that pets are allowed, so please bring the necessary phone numbers. We will also ask for photo identification (driver’s license.) The purpose for that is to eliminate the possibility of fraudulent adoptions that may result in harm to the animal.
Please bring your completed form to the Center so you can be pre-approved and ready to adopt.
Pet Matching:
The Center’s goal is to work with each potential adopter to ensure that you get a wonderful pet, and that the dog or cat you choose finds a happy, safe, forever home.
- When you arrive at our shelter you’ll be invited to sign our guest book.
- A staff member or volunteer will ask you some initial questions about your lifestyle, hobbies, home environment, and pet preferences.
- Don’t be surprised if you end up falling for an entirely different kind of dog or cat, or choose two! It happens all the time.
- If you find a pet that fits your needs, great! If not, we welcome you to visit as many times as it takes to find the perfect match.
For CATS: one of our volunteers will escort you through the cat rooms pointing out cats that may suit your home life and personality preferences. Do you want a cozy lap cat, a flying feline, a sweet kitten, or a burly barn cat? Cat socializers or staff will take your selected cat to a visiting room so you can become better acquainted.
For DOGS: we have all sizes and temperaments. You’ll be invited to look at our photo album containing information about each dog first, because once you enter our canine patio, all the dogs want your attention! Our volunteers will help you walk your selected dog(s) so you can assess their personality away from the stress of the shelter environment.
Important note: if you’ve got your heart set on an animal that already has a pending adoption, we encourage you to fill out a back-up form. Adoptions can fall through, and you’ll be next in line.
Completing the Adoption Process:
- Once you’ve completed the pre-adoption process and paid for your new pet, if they are already spayed/neutered, they can go home with you.
- If your chosen pet is not yet altered, there will be a delay for their surgery and recovery. Not all incoming pets can be altered when they arrive, so we have the surgery performed once a dog or cat has been promised a home.
- While waiting, you can visit your pet, and assemble your new pet’s bedding, toys, collar, food, safety-check your environment/fencing, or see our tips for pet training. We’ll call you as soon as you can pick them up!
You’re a HERO: Our absolute favorite time at the shelter is when adopters come to pick up their new family member. We enjoy taking a picture of you and your new pet to post on Facebook. We’ll be calling to see how things are going and if you have any questions. Don’t forget to become a member to get our newsletters/discounts, or “Like” our Facebook page, and encourage others to rescue a pet too! And from all the staff, volunteers, and board of directors: Thank you!
